Grateful thanx and a tip of the hat to David P. Murphy for his consultation on the bridge.
“The lyric for “Release” was written in memory of my father-in-law, Robert F. Rasmussen, by his granddaughter, Abby Martin. Abby sent them in a text message to my wife Patty after he had passed. When she showed me the text, I knew immediately that it was a song lyric. The music almost wrote itself. I just put the antennas up and took dictation from the cosmos. Thanks Daddio, I know you had a hand in this one. By the way, most of what sounds like a synth keyboard on this track is actually guitars run thru layers of reverb. The swells in the chorus were created with an E-Bow, a hand-held magnetic device that vibrates guitar strings as a violin bow would. Scott really outdid himself on this song.”
This grief is like water, recycling through
Let it rain down, and then renew
Release... Float on
Sweet Freedom, belongs to you
It comes in waves, different versions of you
Rolling in, and back out, they flow thru me too
Release... Float on
Sweet Freedom, belongs to you, belongs to you
Sail on now, be on your way
Those you love are waiting, can't you hear them say
Release... Float on
Sweet Freedom, belongs to you
Release... Float on
Sweet Freedom, belongs to you, it belongs to you
